Carpet Cleaning With Pet Stain Treatment in Colorado Springs

Pet Stains Driving You Nuts? No Problem. Call The Experts

Dog Leaving A Pet Stain In Colorado Springs
How Prevalent Are Pet Stains in Colorado Springs?
There are more than 130,000 households in the Pikes Peak front range with cats and dogs among their family members. That’s more than 130,000 carpets, rugs, and floors with the potential to be ruined with pet urine stains and odors in Colorado Springs. But with the help of Bee-Kleen Professional Carpeting Cleaning & More, Colorado Springs pet owners can prevent pet accidents from becoming flooring nightmares.

How does Bee-Kleen approach pet stains and the odors they cause?
There are three possible approaches Bee-Kleen uses to remove pet stains and odors for our Colorado Springs carpet cleaning customers. The best course of action depends on the severity of the situation and whether pet urine is contained at the surface or has seeped into the carpet pad and sub floor. We will work with you to assess the situation and choose the right approach.
Why are pet stains and odors so stubborn?
While typical household pet stain removal products contain soap and other strong chemicals, they can’t get the job done because they can’t break down the uric acid found in pet urine. While some products can provide short-term relief (and mask odors), professional pet urine decontamination and deep cleaning methods are normally required to completely remove these stains and the odors they cause.

Why are pet stains so hard to find?
First of all, and as the Humane Society of the United States points out, you need to find all the spots where pets have marked before you can retrain them to potty in acceptable areas. But the accidents they leave behind can be really hard to find—and you can’t remove what you can’t see. Bee-Kleen uses a professional grade black light to identify all of the problem areas so they can be properly eliminated. Cat urine in particular, will glow a very bright yellow under the light, largely because it contains phosphorous as well as broken down blood proteins that glow under the light.
Approach 1: For Surface Pet Stains

This approach works well for pet stains that are contained at the surface, which represent about 50% of the stains we encounter in the field. Generally, these are small accidents by small pets. This approach includes:

  1. Pre-spraying the area with professional grade pet odor neutralizer.
  2. Performing full hot water extraction with truck-mounted steam cleaning equipment.
  3. Post-treating to ensure all of the stain is removed and any remaining odors are eliminated.

Approach 2: For Advanced Pet Stains

Stronger measures are required for more advanced stains. For example, where larger dogs have deposited significant amounts of urine and/or have repeatedly urinated in the same area. This approach includes:

  1. The Claw. We deploy a powerful tool called a Water Claw. With the Water Claw we “flood” the affected areas with water treated with pet odor neutralizer, while at the same time, doing sub-surface extraction of both the water and the pet urine. We repeat this flooding and extracting process multiple times to remove as much urine as possible from the carpet and underlying pad.
  2. We then proceed with the same three steps used in the “Surface Stains” approach above.
Approach 3: For Extreme Pet Stains

When significant amounts of pet urine has penetrated the carpet and pad and reached the subfloor, replacing the carpet pad and potentially treating the subfloor may be needed to eliminate the odor. This approach involves:

  1. Pulling back and cleaning both sides of the carpet.
  2. Cutting out the area of the carpet pad that is saturated with pet urine and replacing it with a new piece of pad.
  3. Treating the affected areas with odor neutralizer and special cleaning solutions.
  4. Potentially applying KILZ MAX, a new generation water-base primer sealer and stain blocker, to the subfloor to “seal off” and reduce any residual pet odors.
  5. Professionally reinstalling the carpet after it has completely dried.

Accidents happen. And when they do, you sometimes need a professional. Let Bee-Kleen restore your carpet and reduce pet stains and odors to a distant memory.
